Seychelles President to be Guest of Honour at Prempeh I Centennial Symposium In Kumasi

Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan will be the guest of honour at a symposium at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Friday, November 22 to mark 100 years of the return of Asantehene Prempeh I from exile in the archipelago country.

Ghana’s High Commissioner to Seychelles, Francisca Ashietey-Odunton, announced this at an event in Victoria, the Seychelles capital, to commemorate the centenary of the return of Prempeh I, the Asante King who was exiled to the Seychelles by British colonial authorities over 100 years ago.

Prempeh I’s return to the Ashanti Kingdom in 1924 symbolizes a significant chapter in Ghana’s history, marking the resilience and enduring cultural heritage of the Ashanti people.

Kumasi celebrations
Asanteman will use three days for the centennial celebrations of the return of the 13th Asantehene.
The celebration is dubbed, “100 year’s anniversary of the return of King Prempeh I from exile in Seychelles”.

On Friday, November 22, a symposium will be held at the Otumfuo Osei Tutu lI Jubilee Hall, Manhyia Palace, while on Saturday, November 23, a mini durbar will take place at the Nana Afia Kobi Memorial Park, Manhyia Palace.

Then on Sunday, a church service will be held at the St Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Kumasi.
