Otumfuo Honours Kofi Okyere Darko with Appreciation Plaque

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has presented Mr. Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), Director of the Diaspora Affairs Office, with an appreciation plaque for his work on the recent 27th coronation anniversary events.

The plaque recognises KOD’s contribution to the successful organisation of the World-Meets-in-Ghana Executive Dinner Ball, a historic gala that celebrated Otumfuo as a “Pillar of Peace” on the 27th anniversary of his ascension to the Golden Stool.

The grand event was a multi-stakeholder collaboration involving the E ON 3 Group, Manhyia Palace, the Diaspora Affairs Office, KGL Group, and other partners.

Role
KOD’s office played a key curatorial role, helping to shape an occasion that also served as a prelude to the Asantehene’s upcoming visit to Washington, D.C., this August for the Akwasidae celebrations.

Appreciation
In a Facebook post published after the Thursday morning ceremony, KOD described the moment as deeply humbling. “Receiving a plaque from His Majesty this morning as a token of gratitude is a moment I will forever cherish. It is deeply humbling to be recognised in service to tradition, leadership, and the enduring legacy of the Asante Kingdom,” he wrote.

KOD also extended sincere appreciation to the Mamponghemaa, Nana Agyakoma Difie, and Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori Atta, Executive Chairman of E ON 3 Group, whose presence and encouragement, he said, made the moment even more significant.

Emphasis
The presentation underscores the Asantehene’s emphasis on honouring those who help project the kingdom’s legacy of peace and global cultural diplomacy, both at home and across the diaspora.
