The running-mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, known as Napo has praised the party for enhancing teachers’ welfare, stating that starting salaries for teachers in Ghana have significantly increased since 2016.
He shared this information in a social media post on December 4, following discussions with teacher groups in the Ashanti Region.
Napo highlighted that the NPP government has consistently provided better support for teachers compared to the previous Mahama administration.
As a former Minister for Education, he attributed these improvements to specific policies implemented by the NPP. He pointed out that teachers in Ghana now start with salaries that are three times higher than in 2016.
Dr. Opoku-Prempeh reassured teachers that the NPP, under the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is dedicated to prioritizing their welfare and addressing their needs.
He acknowledged the crucial role teachers play in the education system, which is vital for the country’s progress.
He described his meeting with the teachers as energetic and enthusiastic, noting their strong support for the NPP.
“The enthusiasm I saw today was truly motivating. These groups showed a united commitment to continue the progress we have made as a nation. Their determination is evident—they will support Dr. Bawumia and all NPP candidates,” he stated.
